Attachment-Based Counseling for Individuals and Couples
Welcome!
Allow Me to Introduce Myself ...
I am a licensed clinical psychologist and would enjoy the opportunity to work with you! I offer virtual appointments in California, focused on attachment style. Through my education, professional experience, and my own personal relationships, I have come to see attachment as fundamental to all our connections … especially with our self.
My interest in attachment theory began in my graduate studies in the early 2000s. Since then, I have taught many students the fundamentals of attachment theory in my career as a tenured professor of psychology at California Baptist University. I have also worked intentionally toward learning and healing my own attachment wounds through therapy, coaching, continuing education, and my personal relationships.
While I do love my career with all my heart and am thankful for the opportunity to share it, I'm ultimately just a normal person! I have a family that includes human kids and furry kids, I live in a normal house and do all the typical mom-life things. I come from a family that is both dysfunctional and lovable, and I have walked through several of my own personal traumas. Applying attachment theory in my life has made the blessings even better and the challenges less challenging.
Whether you are navigating a personal challenge, long to be accepted for your real self, crave a sense of belonging, or are facing an upcoming life change ... attachment-based counseling can help.
I offer various types and styles of counseling, and we can customize your counseling to fit your preferences. Together, we can use your attachment to create the security and peace you desire in life.

My General Approach to Counseling
Initial Session
During the first session, I hope to learn about you and your hopes for counseling. I will usually have a lot of questions for you about your current situation as well as your background. Whatever you feel comfortable sharing can help craft your therapy to be most helpful.
Ongoing Appointments
We collaboratively schedule our virtual appointments. I have availability on various days/times of the week. We can work at your pace.
Practice Outside of Session
Similar to learning a foreign language or a new musical instrument, your growth depends on your investment. You will certainly benefit from our appointments and the work we do in session. And you will benefit far greater if you practice outside of session. Practice ideas and strategies are discussed in each appointment and encouraged for your benefit.
